I think the argument of abortion shouldn't exist. It's a very clear cut answer to me. Leave it an open ended thing. For example, alcohol. There's a general age limit but after that, it's lawful for anybody yet there are people out there who don't drink for various reasons; religion, health, personal beliefs, personal preferences. If you want to, you can. If you don't, you don't. Simple as that. We have separation of church and state for a reason. Passing a law like this will open the gates to questions like well if laws are being passed in the name of christianity, what about other religions? should pork be banned everywhere? should beef be banned? should sabbath be a mandated off day for the entire nation? We have freedom to and FROM religion. We should be protected but instead, we have things like this happen. Not to mention, the gross overstep of our government. Laws like these are what lead to fascist and authoritarian governments. We pride ourselves on our democracy but pass laws on the bodies of our citizens? Is our bodily autonomy not protected? It also raises the question of if abortion laws are passed, why are not vasectomy laws equally passed? Women are the carriers, the recipients. What about men? Why aren't they regulated? This is also targeting poor and mainly POC women, women who can't afford to have children or to buy contraceptives. People with money can just leave and go to a nation that legalizes abortions. What about victims of SA, children who have suffered through that and ended up pregnant as a result? Are they going to force a child to have another child?
It's a disaster in every sense. It should be kept at a simple 'it's legal'. If someone doesn't want to, don't do it. Nobody is forcing them. If someone wants an abortion, they have access to it. Each person can decide what they believe when it comes to question of 'what is life?' You can think whatever you want.
