Human sexuality has always had some form of subjectivity, but only recently have people fully begun to explore the concept more. Sexuality has historically been a taboo topic, and people in the past have been killed, tortured, and been discriminated against for their sexualities. Many psychologists have proposed different theories about formation of sexuality, but most agree that children begin to understand their sexualities in adolescence and especially after puberty. Understanding of one's sexuality is a large steppingstone in development. Care must be taken in society to protect those with atypical sexualities. These people receive hate and face blatant discrimination by others often. Education about sexuality, for maturing adolescents, is relevant and necessary. People will only poke fun or discriminate against those that they do not understand. Making sure everyone understands sexuality will bolster confidence in youth and will teach potential oppressors to empathize with LGBTQ+ individuals.
